Dennis has a Marketing and Management degree and an MBA from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. His theological training is with Moody Bible in Chicago. He and his wife, Sally, have five sons and began their Christian Service as missionaries with SIM/USA , focusing on stewardship and project development.

Following their time there, Dennis became the founding Director of Life Water Ministries, Inc., a help ministry for people in crisis. This became a department of CRM International, which Dennis co-founded with Robert Ruesch. It began as an RV Park chaplain ministry in the destination states for winter travelers in Florida, Texas, and Arizona. Dennis and his wife were the first RV Park Chaplain in the new ministry at Navarre Beach, Florida. All CRM International Chaplains are ordained and endorsed NAMB chaplains. He stepped down as General Director of CRM International to concentrate on the CRM department, establishing Free Medical Clinics. He helped establish the Free Medical Clinic of the Ozarks in Hollister, MO. Since Sycamore's was accepted as a Texas Baptist church plant, Dennis has been the senior pastor here.
